I walk back from school with all my friends. Life is good, I have a happy family, a happy life at school and I have straight As and I lead a happy life. What could possibly happen to make my life bad? I'm walking up my porch when I feel a tap on my shoulder. It's Jeremy again.
"Lisa! Hey What's up! What are you doing here?" He asks loudly. Very loudly.
"Uh, this is my front porch. What are you doing here?" I ask quizzically.
"I was waiting for you to come back. So, I could ask you something."
"Okay, shoot."
"So you know the Springtime Formal is coming up right?"
"Uh yeah." My friends and I have only been talking about it for the last three weeks.
"Are you going with someone?"
"Uh, yeah, you know I have a boyfriend, Jeremy."
"I was kind of hoping you would be over with that doofus by now."
"Um, yeah no." I said as I opened the door and walked in. Was Jake really a doofus? Ah, typical Lisa, always insecure about her life. Jake was everything. He was cute, smart, funny and really nice. What could go wrong with him? I set my backpack on the kitchen table and got out a bottle of orange juice from the fridge. I heard the doorbell go off. Ugh, can't that clown take no for a answer? I dragged my feet and opened the door. It was Jake.
"Uh, hey." He was holding a bouquet of roses.
"I was wondering if you would go to the dance with me." He said, down on one knee. See what I mean? After school, he automatically drives to my house and gives me roses. He's so romantic.
"Of course, Jakey. Who else would I go with?" I say; wrapping my arms around him. He stands up and hands me the flowers.
"Hey babe, what are you wearing? it would be nice if we could match." he says sweetly.
"Ugh, you guys make me sick." spat Jeremy from the porch next to ours. He's sitting on a hammock and staring at us with intent eyes.
"Shut up." Jake said as he picked me up and carried me inside. He slammed the door shut behind him and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"So, what are you wearing?" He asked. I giggled.
"Obviously I don't have one yet. I have to go buy one first."
"Then I'll go with you."
"I don't know Jake, it's more of something you of with your girlfriends than something you do with your boyfriend."
"Will then you'll be the exception." he whispered as he tucked my hair behind my ear.
"Okay, you can come, it's this Saturday, we meet at the mall at 2:00." I say.
"I'll pick you up at 1:30." he says as he walks out the door. We've been dating for months now, but I still get breathless. I calm down and grab a banana. I'm watching Pretty Little Liars when I get a text from Melissa, my best friend. Unlike my other friends, she's here because she likes me, not my popularity. I reach for my phone.
So, word is that Jake is taking you to the dance, Score!
I smile she knew that, who else would Jake take? He is my boyfriend.
Obvi. He's my boyfriend. Why is this weird again? I text back. In a second, I get a text back.
Because he's hot, that's why. I can't wait till Saturday. Leon says that my dress has to be silver to match his suit. I don't think silver's a good color on me, I am even more surprised at the notion of a silver suit, he is going to look so funny. What do you think?
Honey, you look gorge in anything. About Saturday, Jake might be coming with us. I hear my mom come home from work. gtg bi. I put down my phone.
"Watcha doing?" My mom asked, putting down her bag.
"Oh, nothing much. Just getting ready to shop for the dance. We're going on Saturday. Do you mind?" I asked.
"Yeah. No problem sweetie. Do you wanna help me with the vegetables?"
"Uh yeah, sure." I say getting up.
The days that led up to Saturday were long and boring. When Saturday morning finally arrived, I almost screamed with joy. I slept in till 9 and then browsed around on the internet for the kind of dress I want. At ten, I thought it was enough of stalling and walked to my closet in my enormous sweatpants and huge T-shirt. I picked out skinny long-sleeved t-shirt from Aeropostale, some skinny jeans from American Eagle, a pair of magenta ballet flats from Style Co., and a leather jacket that I got from some store in Europe. I put a couple of curls in my hair and grabbed a Louis Vuitton silver handbag and marched out the front door.
"Where are you going, honey?' My mom asked, getting herself ready for work. "I thought you didn't have to go till later."
"Um, yeah. Change in plans I guess." I lied. I knew I couldn't coop myself in the house and wait. I decided to take a drive, maybe do something.
"Okay! Just be home by 6! We're having tacos for dinner." my dad screamed as I walked out the door. Oh classic dad. He knows I hate tacos. I slip into my car and drive away. Now where to go? I drive to McDonalds and buy myself a Egg McMuffin and a cup of coffee. I was excited, but still hungry. After I finished eating, I drove to the mall. It was 10:59. I strolled into the food court and then sat down. I don't know how long I was playing on my phone, but it seemed like a while before I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey! What are you doing here? I thought we were meeting here with Sara and Jenna at 1. Did I get the time wrong?" asked a confused Melissa. As usual, she looks stunning. She has a tank top on with a crop gray sweater and worn ripped skinny jeans with rolled down tall uggs.
"Uh, yeah. Couldn't wait I guess. You're here early too." I say, stretching. I must have sat in that chair longer than I thought.
"What do you mean? It's 12:58. I'm just two minutes early." she asks, confused again. Oh. I sat in that chair for two hours? Huh.
"What? Yeah. Let's go then. Where are Sara and Jenna?" I ask, trying to change the topic.
"They're coming, they said to meet us at Sixteen and Soon. Let's hurry up." said Melissa as she pulled me to the storefront. There, Sara and Jenna were standing there leaning on the wall.
"OMG you look gorge, this place is amaze, I think your fab!" squealed Sara. Yep, that's Sara, she likes to scream a lot and gush about stuff. Okay, yeah, she exactly like the rest of us.
"Do you want to find the perf dress or not? Let's get a move on." said an exasperated Jenna. We all walked inside Sixteen and Soon. It had dresses, but not the type of dress you would wear to a formal dance. I walked to Gorgeous Girls Galore which is a stupid store name, but it's the type of store that would sell formal dresses that aren't that bad. As it turns out, it was the right store after all.
Srry this is so short, I'm still working on Lisa's part. I will post more soon. I thought it would be interesting to see what Lisa's life was like before...the first book. Thanks guys!
